I’ve seen the terms low and high pressure foils – what does this mean ?

The term low pressure was applied to earlier designs such as the Modulus. These kites are noticeable in the fact that the openings at the front of the kite are large therefore the kites can inflate easily and are very stable in a range of conditions. If you look at a Skytiger for example the opening is much smaller (it is covered with a mesh gauze which maintains the airfoil shape at the front of the kite) and it is located at at particular point (basically where the air pressure is highest). Generally the Skytiger type of kite maintains its shape well but I’ve noticed that they can be awkward to land in a high wind. The worst example was a Skytiger 26 which was extremely difficult to reverse and land in a strong wind and even on the ground with correct brake adjustment is bounced around violently.
