Quick Review !

Construction - overall very good - the suspension rear axle is "simple" but very nicely engineered. The two shocks can be adjusted using both a knurled ring to increase the preload and by using different mounting holes. This will adjust the camber of the wheels. We think the shocks may be off a mountain bike but they are totally exposed to the elements so we don't know if they're resistant to salt water yet !!

Seat - The seat is absolutely huge - probably far too big for me, but feels comfortable athough you do slide forwards a little. The side support is excellent which would allow a larger kite than a standard buggy (hence possibly better speed & better upwind performance). I would have prefered a tighter (more snug) seat.

In use - A brief initial comparison is very interesting. The wind was about 15mph and I was flying a Quadrifoil XL using my PL Competition buggy with the 1.4m non-suspension rear axle. Against Colin (Krazy Kites) with the race buggy and a Blade 4.9 there was no way I could catch up. When we swapped buggies the difference was very noticeable. I was now able to hold a much tighter line upwind using the side of the seat for support and the speed was better overall (however I did have to wedge myself into the bottom of the seat). The action of the suspension was not that noticeable except in tight turns but the buggy rattles loudly !! So overall it appears to have the edge - its not as good looking as a Libre VMax but has a distinctive advantage in price considering the suspension.

Peter Lynn Race Buggy
  • The Race Buggy is loosely based on the Competition Buggy:
  • The front fork assembly is standard PL Competition (not the optional extra strong front fork).
  • The headstock and downtube are standard PL Competition.
  • The side frames are thicker, taller and longer.
  • The rear axle has suspension units (the rear axle will fit standard Competition side frames - both the standard short and optional longer items).
  • The seat is huge with a zip in & out side / backrest.
